Working on Kenya’s railway network means experiencing a unique blend of history and modern engineering. Our journey through Mombasa, Nairobi and Nakuru followed the country’s historic metre-gauge railway, originally built by the British in the late 19th century. Today, American freight locomotives from the 1970s still operate alongside state-of-the-art Chinese-built trains.
In modern rail freight operations, efficiency is everything. A failed battery is not just a technical issue—it can disrupt freight movements and impact the entire supply chain.
This is where our advanced battery charging and discharging systems come into play. Designed to analyse battery life cycles, detect potential faults and help prevent failures, they support the reliability and continuity of rail freight operations.
One of the highlights of the project was the hands-on operational training carried out directly alongside the battery chargers. Our colleague Luigi Mezzalira led the sessions, working side by side with local technicians during live testing and real operating conditions, turning every activity into a valuable opportunity for knowledge sharing and mutual learning.
Technology is essential, but it is people, expertise and the willingness to learn from one another that truly make the difference.
Another experience reminding us that innovation is always built through collaboration.
